Gavin Baily is currently collaborating on a number of projects which combine Virtual Environment and Internet technology. This work seeks to explore temporal representations of data transactions between machines on the network. Web Agents (e.g. spiders, drones) are used to trace the activity of Internet servers, and to project this information into 3d environments.
The relation of this work to Biotica is architectural. As a system Biotica can be viewed as a network of interacting nodes (similar to a computer network), whose relationships are specified by simple algorithms. Each node in the system is a processor (router) of information which broadcasts to neighbouring nodes. Despite the relative simplicity of each node, information transactions result in an unpredictable emergent behaviour.
Gavin studied Fine Art at the Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford, and Computer Science at University College London.
